School Bell

Bell used at the school, which was at the beach by Haupouri Station woolshed during World War One.
The school was closed and the schoolroom was used by the shepherds as shearers’ quarters.
The bell was moved to Taurapa Station homestead to call the gardener for smoko (morning and afternoon tea).
When Charles Michael Gordon was living in Puketapu, he lent the bell to Puketapu School to use. Unfortunately the bell was dropped and got broken.
