Newspaper Article – Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club

The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s Centennial meeting on April 16 and 23 boasts the finest race programme in the club’s 100 years of existence. The Hawke’s Bay Centennial Cup on the first day carries a £250 gold cup donated by members of the committee, and every other race on the programme carries a £100 trophy. There will be a £20 cheque for the trainer of every winner and £10 worth of riding gear for the rider of every winner. On the second day the Dewar organisation presents a £250 gold cup for the main handicap, the Dewar Gold Cup, and a £100 trophy for the sprint. Picture shows the trophies which include a television set, a grandfather clock and numerous other outstanding gold and silver pieces.
