Arrived in Napier with his parents and two siblings on the “Queen of the North”, 2 February 1874, having left Denmark on 21 October 1873, a voyage of 104 days
From Alder family history – “Pete lived at Hinerua with the Cecil Alder family, he had an outside whare. He worked on the farm and was often seen riding horses doing mustering etc. I remember Pete as being very deaf. His funeral had to be delayed, due to a heavy snowfall. Buried at the Forest Gate Onga Onga cemetery, plot No. 86.”
