Accomplished sportsman and renowned administrator
Professional career was with the AMP Insurance Society
During World War Two he became a Lieutenant-colonel  in the NZ Army Service Corps
Awarded Order of the British Empire (Military) together with an Efficiency Medal (ED), 1945
Inaugural inductee into the NZ Sports Hall of Fame, 1990
Appointed Commander of the British Empire for service to sports, 1991
