Came to Hawke’s Bay early 1870s to work as a printer and journalist, eventually becoming sub-editor of the ‘Hawke’s Bay Herald’
Moved to Wanganui to become apprentice-printer at ‘Wanganui Herald’, late 1870s, later becoming a journalist
Moved to Blenheim 1883 then Palmerston North, 1884
Involved in education, council and politics
Moved to Petone, 1903 and established a newspaper, ‘Hutt and Petone Chronicle’ then to Fielding, 1906, purchasing the ‘Fielding Star’
Elected to the Wellington Education Board, 1926
Frederick divorced and re-married in 1922
Seventh child, Frederick Bryan, to Iris Pirani
