Linotype operator at the Daily Telegraph in Napier at the time of the 1931 earthquake; made his way home to 32 Meeanee Quay, Westshore, to find his parents alive and only the chimney fallen down
Lived at 30 Meeanee Quay after marriage in 1938
Amateur photographer who developed and tinted his own photos
Many photos in his album are believed to have been taken of sailing in the inner harbour prior to 1931; because of his great love of boats, the album contains many unique views of Napier
