Biography
Arrived in Napier with his wife and six children on the “Bebington” 20 November 1874, having left Gloucestershire, England on 28 February 1874, a voyage of 117 days; cost of assisted passage 99 pounds
On arrival they were transferred to barracks, except for Rose and Emily who both being single girls over the age of 12 yrs, went to single women’s quarters; they left barracks on 25 November 1874 to work for McKindry at Te Aute for 8/- per day
John helped to form the Te Aute Road with pick and shovel.
