Adviser Hastings 1969-1975)* The above book is about the 2nd generation Findlay’s in NZ including Stuart Findlay’s 1897-1979, father Walter James Cunningham Findlay. 1872-1940 Walter lived in Napier at one time worked as a Watchmaker with Nyman and Williams? Emmerson St. Involved in a highly reported sensational trial which resulted in the High Court throwing out the charge of trying to murder his infant son. Walter was then working as a pawnbroker for Selaks. He subsequently moved to Whangarei Stuart Findlay’s son Peter, living in Rotorua is about to publish his life story and will cover the story of his very successful businessman father Stuarts life as well. As at Feb 1 2021. More on Findlay’s in Hawkes Bay Hastings and Gisborne: As well as Gt Gt Uncle Walter, The same publication includes his bro John Walker Findlay 1867-1934 JP FPANZ Accountant of Napier who built Mornington on Bluff Hill. My Gt Uncle Cecil Stanley Findlay 1891-1989 lived in Napier was the longest serving customs agent also the youngest ever life member of the HB Rugby Union. Another Gt Uncle was Henry “Harry” Arthur Findlay 1892-1972. of Gisborne One time publican Masonic Hotel. His father William Findlay was a successful business man, indent agent 1862-1946 in Gisborne having moved there from Dunedin 1912. Also described in the above mentioned publication as one of the second gen NZ’s. Note Progeny is no 3 in a series of 5 abt The Findlay’s from Kincardinshire and Aberdeen in 1863 Re NZ Department of Agriculture and Ministry of Agriculture. As mentioned above I was a Horticulture Advisory Officer 1969-1988. I have published “Memories of a Horticulture Advisory Officer the 9th and last in the Roxburgh Office” I am working on: Government Horticulture Experts 1893-1978. Attempting to name all those extension and regulatory staff of those times.
