Description

Plunket Ball at Majestic Hall, Wellington, 1953

I had been invited, as were many others, to attend a dance group. I was hesitant as not good at dancing but was really pushed into it. I was to learn how to do “The Quadrill”, some kind of dance done in the old days. We took weeks of practice, one night each week for about two hours.

Then the big night in front of what seemed to me as all of Wellington’s elite. That’s me back row right, my partner (in front of me) was Lois Williams of Karori. I am sure I crushed her toes many times. Note the frills, felt like a real……
