Description
Harrison Room, previously known as the Public Room
This picture frame shows the actual sarking timber used throughout Stoneycroft House. Next the scrim and how that is attached to paste the wallpaper on. A linen lining paper shown here was also found in some rooms. Lastly the finishing wallpaper was pasted on with paste made with flour, alum and boiling water. The wallpaper shown here is a piece of the original paper used when the house was first built. All the rooms in Stoneycroft that you see wallpapered today have been re-scrimmed. A layer of lining paper has been pasted on to the new scrim before the final wallpapers you see were hung. This was completed in 2012.
