Public Trust building
Street address 201 Karamu Road North
New Zealand Historic Places Trust Register Category 2, Number 1101
Built 1926 by JWC Munn/Monk
Architect – JT Silver
Stripped classical style
Two fluted Grecian Ionic columns stand on either sides of the entrance from Karamu Road; Queen Street frontage has plain pilasters with moulded and enriched caps
Survived the 1931 earthquake
Former site of Williams and Kettle cattle yards

During the 1931 earthquake the top floor of the original building (1911) was damaged and never rebuilt.
Extension (glass on extreme right) added late 1980s
A time capsule has been hidden in the main entrance area.
“Hawke’s Bay Today” offices moved in September 2013 to the renovated Power Board building on the corner of Heretaunga and Warren Streets.
