H.B. MOTOR CYCLE CLUB.
RELIABILITY TRIAL.
The first of the Club’s reliability contests this season, took place over the wee-end, the course being from Hastings to Tikokino, and back, via Gwavas. In spite of the weather conditions 17 competed, and seeing that 14 finished, must be considered a very creditable performance for both riders and machines. The conditions of the trial were that competitors should ride between two cars which carried the officials and observers, and the result was judged as follows, 100 points being allowed for each competitor for reliability, 100 points for petrol consumption, and 100 for hill climbing, deductions being made from these totals for stops, failures, etc.
Mr. A.C. Sutton of Napier, riding a 7 H.P. Harley Davidson, was declared the winner of the trial, several others being very close on points. The winner, who previously held the Triumph Cup won it again, and holds it until the next trial, which will take place at an early date when the club expects very keen competition.
Dudley Newbigin, riding a 5 h.p. Scout Indian won the honours in the petrol consumption test.
The club wishes to thank Mr. H.R. Bisley, and the Tourist Motor Company for kindly lending cars for the occasion and generally assisting the officials.
