Poplar Avenue, Pakowhai Road, Hastings, early 1900s; vehicle number plate HA940
Believed to have been planted by –
(1) Michael Begley (1856-1940) who worked for William Nelson (according to grandson, Doug Begley)
(2) Jorgen Pallesen (1858-1944), an immigrant from Viborg, Denmark, in 1872-74 (according to great-grandson Dexter McGhie)
