“Hello Folks,
This is the place at which we are staying – about 15 miles up the Forth from Edinburgh not far from Linlithgow.  The wall to the left faces over the water & just behind the place on a hill is a cairn built by Thomas (Ian) Dalzell, who is an ancestor of the people living here & who played a prominent part in Scottish history.  The present Dalzell of the Binns served in the Diplomatic service in Persia, Arabia & India.
Noel.  Oct. 5th 1943.”
