Description

Two of the men on this memorial – Patrick Hunter and Alex Howell – were killed in a mission in the North Sea. On 28 April 1943 they took off from England in the same aircraft, in a mission made up of nearly 800 planes but 22 were lost. Hunter and Howell, who were both put in the same bomber crew, were shot down and killed just off the coast of Denmark. The bodies of the two men were never found.
