Description
From Napier Centennial newspaper supplement, 1974 – “The gradient up Shakespeare Road makes for easy traveling in a modern motorcar. Not so in the 1880s as horses and drays trundled over the hill along an unsealed road. Clustered at the bottom of the hill is the fringe of Napier’s business area about 1863.”
