IT IS LAID ON LAND GIVEN FOR A
SCHOOL IN 1854 BY THE NGATI WHATU-I-APITI
IT SIGNIFIES A JOINT VENTURE FOR THE
FUTURE BY THE GOVERNMENT AND THE
TE AUTE TRUST BOARD
IT EXEMPLIFIES A SCHOOL DESIGNED
TO MEET THE CHALLANGES OF CHANGING WORLD
IT MARKS THE CHOSEN SITE OF A
CREATIVE VILLAGE; OF AN EXPERIMENTAL
MARAE COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN MAORI
EDUCATION; OF A SACRED PLACE GIVEN TO GOD.
IT REPRESENTS THIS COLLEGE OF
TE AUTE FROM WHICH WILL BE SENT
OUR YOUNG MEN ACADEMICALLY QUALIFIED
STRONG IN KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF
MAORITANGA, WITH AN INSIGHT INTO THE
CHRISTIAN CONCEPTION OF BEING AN
INFLUENCE FOR GOOD AMONG THEIR
FELLOWS DURING THEIR LIFETIME.
