Description

Wweatherboard building with corrugated iron roof
The Post Office on the far right was added to the original building.
The flat-roofed extension on the left was used for meetings and contained a pool/billiards table.

Amelia Longley ran the store while AWS Longley ran a coach company from Herbertville to Dannevirke.

Additional notes –
Members of the community stand on the veranda, their horses in the foreground.  No doubt some of them were there to collect their mail. There were no home deliveries in those days. The enterprising A. W. S. Longley bought the store for his wife prior to 1914. He added the post office on far right and built an extension with a flat roof as a meeting room to the left. It conveniently contained a full-size billiard table.
