Dear Colonel Ballantyne,

I have much pleasure in informing you that Her Majesty has graciously approved your appointment as Honorary Physician to the Queen. This appointment will become effective from 9 July 1956, and the appropriate notice will be published shortly in the New Zealand Gazette.

I should like to congratulate you on the appointment, which has been made in recognition of your distinguished service in the Royal New Zealand Army Medical Corps.

In accordance with current regulations, you will retain this appointment until you retire or until you are posted to the Reserve of Officers.
