Snake found in old sewer

Speculation has ended in horror over the discovery of what is believed to be a one hundred year old snake found in the brick arch sewer in the East Mall in Hastings early this morning. A six man team went into the sewer after construction workers who were relining the pipe expressed concern over unusual noises they could hear inside the old brick pipe. Professor McGillicuddy from the Hawke’s Bay Zoological Society was called to the scene to help with the safe handling of the snake. Andrew McRae, CBD Project Manager and Professor McGillicuddy are pictured with the caged snake which is on show in the East Mall tomorrow.
