Born Hastings 9 April 1934.
Married 1953 Rosa Mitchell; four children – Roanne, Kevin, Gregory, Derek.
Educated Hamilton Technical College.
Minister of Labour, Immigration, State Services 1990-, Pacific Island Affairs 1990-91, MP for Maramarua 1990-, other electorates 1972-90.  In National governments 1978-84 Minister of Energy, Regional Development, Science and Development, National Development, Science and Technology, responsible for government’s growth strategies and ‘Think Big’ projects.
Deputy Mayor of Pukekohe six years; past president Pukekohe Jaycees, Jaycees International Senator.
Formerly in own surveying and engineering practice in Pukekohe 1957-72.
Leisure activities include fishing, gardening, tramping.
Address C/o Parliament House, Wellington.
