Clerical Cadet (Management Trainee) N.Z. Railways. Palmerston North. Outwards Goods Office, Parcels Office, And Train Control. Started 9th October 1945. Old Railway Station.

1947
Intermediate Clerk. National Airways Corporation, Milson Airfield. Chief Inspectors Office, Engineering Dept. Aircraft Log Books and Hourly Overhaul records. Started August 1947.

1949
R.N.Z.A.F. Photographer. Served Wigram, Ohakea, Whenuapai, Air Dept. Projectionist Camp Cinemas part time at Whenuapai and Ohakea. Screened training films to air crew on non flying days. Aerial mapping. Air to Ground photographs, Camera gunning, groups, identify photographs, Public Relations, Air Accidents, Portraits, Defect Reports. Started 1st February.

1957
Office Manager, Fisheries Research Laboratory. Marine Department Wellington. Fresh and Salt Water Research. Fisheries Legislation. Started March.

1958
Senior Accounts Clerk. Wool Commission Wellington. Wool Board Levy, Ultimate Destinations Wool Sales in N.Z. Analysis of Wool Sales in N.Z. Started August.

1962
Office Manager, Patangata County Council, Waipukurau Engineering Dept. Wages, Work in Progress Costing – Stock Control, Accounts Payable. Staff Control. Started July.

1964
Office Manager Fropax N.Z.Ltd. Hastings. Frozen Food Factory. Employed 150 at the height of the season and 25 during the winter months. Wages, Stock Control Accounts. Payment to Growers. Liaison with Field Staff. Taken over by Unilever in 1966 and then assistant Planning Manager, Engineering Costing Manager. Started August.

1970
Training Consultant. Industrial Training Service Wellington. Opened Office in Hastings in September 1971 to service the East Coast from Te Araroa to Dannevirke. Transferred back to Wellington as Area Manager January 1980. Resigned April 1980. Started August 1970.
A full training service to Industry, starting with a Training Needs Analysis and developing Programs to suit the Company. Introducing the Training Within Industry Scheme. Worked in most industries. Trained In Company Training Officers. At one time working in 5 Freezing Works. Involved in Training I.T.S. Training Consultants. Invited to Massey University as a visiting Lecturer. 1975-76-77.

1980
Management Services Officer. Hawkes Bay Hospital Board. Investigating Problems in Individual Departments. Some studies, Central Sterile Supply, X, Ray, Engineering, Safety Scheme, Disposal of Contaminated Sharps and Flats (needles and syringes). Medical Records, Transport of Patients. Minor Printing, To name but a few. 1987 appointed Transport Manager, responsible for Patient Transfers, within Board and to other Board, also in charge of a fleet of 109 vehicles. In 1990 appointed assistant Statistician. An important position with the

introduction of the New Area Health Board. Boards had to justify their Financial income which was based on numbers of Patients seen. 1993 appointed Archivist to appraise and catalogue administrative records dating from 1867 [1967] to 1993. Retired June 30 1994. After 3 weeks asked to return to appraise more Archives. Stayed to December 1994. February 1996 returned for 8 months.

Total time in full Time work….49 years 10 months.

Cinema selling Ice Creams on Friday Nights. Eltham. Paid 12.5% of takings, plus a free seat at the evening showing
Delivering Telegrams at Christmas. 1943, and 1944
Share milking one cow owed by Bill. I milked the evening Monday to Friday and received a third of the Cream Cheque.

1965 to 1975
Director Hawkes Bay Consumers Co-op. A chain of 9 supermarkets in Hawkes Bay. 1st to introduce discounting. Turnover several millions.

1971 to 1991
Census Sub Enumerator for the 5 yearly census 1971 Tawa. 1976. 81. 86. 91. Hastings. Delivering, checking and summarizing 250 dwellings in your block.

1966 to 1999
Parliamentary Elections. Deputy Returning Officer in Charge of a booth. Most times Lorna as my Poll Clerk. We were always within the first five in with our results and always correct.

1968 to 1978
Deputy Returning Officer. Hastings City Council Local Body Elections.

1967 to 70
Photographic Concession, Toy shop Hastings. Photographing children with Father Christmas.

1965 to 1970
Ran part time Photographic Business. Mainly pre schoolers and Weddings.

1961 to 1970
Worked for Roberts Photography, Porirua as a Stringer, (part timer). Mainly on Saturdays.
Total Number of Weddings Photographed probably about 120.

1970 to 1993
Part Time Tutor in Management Studies at Eastern Institute of Technology. Also taught at Gisborne High School when on the Job in Gisborne Also at Wellington Polytechnic.
