Born Karangahake, 15 November 1914, son of David McLaren Boswell and Mary Ellen (née McLaughlan); married Muriel Frances Howe, daughter of Charles Howe, 1944; three sons one daughter.
Education: Various primary schools; HVHS; Victoria University, BCom 1936; MNZSA, FNZICSA.  Home Guard service, Second World War.  Pensions Department, 1933-1935; Audit Office, 1935-1947; Chief Clerk, Treasury, Tonga (on leave from Audit Office), 1943-1945; General Manager, Central Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board 1945-1964, Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board 1964-1973; Member, Local Government Commission 1974-1978, Wanganui City Council 1980-1986, Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board 1980 -; President, Wanganui Branch, NZ National Superannuitants Federation.
