BRACEY, Edward (Ted) Nicholas. Artist, Art Educator.
Born Portsmouth, England 8 August 1936, arrived New Zealand 1950. Married 1968 Nancy Finlayson; two children – Nicholas (b 1958), Michelle (b 1960).
Educated Hastings High School; Canterbury University – DipFA (Hons) 1959; Auckland Teachers’ Training College – TeachCert 1958; University of Oregon, Eugene – MSc 1981.
Senior lecturer in Fine Arts, head School of Fine Arts Canterbury University; former lecturer, senior lecturer in art education Hamilton Teachers’ College, University of Tasmania, Hobart; member Australia Institute Art Education, National Art Education Association (USA), Canadian Society for Education Through Art; former member New Zealand Society of Sculptors, Painters and Associates. Numerous solo, group exhibitions throughout NZ, France, USA, Australia; paintings in major public collections Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Dunedin;
Publications include catalogues, articles in art journals, national and international journals.
Awarded QE II Arts Council Travel Award, Carnegie Award 1965.
