Married 1948 Alison Irene Whyte; two children – Michael John (b […]), Pamela Ann (b […]).
Educated Waipukurau District High School; Timaru Boys’ High School.
Retired, formerly clerk NZ Railways, farmer, copy writer/script writer national radio, advertising agent, author. Patron South Island Writers’ Association.
Publications include Fear in the Night (Caxton Press, 1959). An Affair of Men (Collins, 1961, subsequently seven publications by UK, European and USA publishers including Fontana 1963, 1973), The Flying Fish (Collins, 1964), The Needle’s Eye (Collins, 1965; Silver Fern 1977), The Evil Day (Collins, 1967; Silver Fern, 1977), The Flame Box (Collins, 1978), 15 guide books and geographies of NZ, essays in Sixty Red Nightcaps (David Bateman, 1980), biography Pilot on the Run (NZ and London: Hutchinson, 1986), two histories, numerous radio plays and art book Just Looking (David Bateman, 1982).
Leisure activities include restoration work RNZAF museum, anthology Air Force writings, model soldiers, Writers in Schools scheme and portrait painting.
