Brooker, Basil Edwin Death Notice 2021

BROOKER, Basil Edwin (QSM).
11.04.41 – 30.03.2021
Following a courageous, stoic and determined battle against cancer, ‘Lord Linden’ passed away peacefully at home 12 days shy of his 80th birthday.
Beloved husband of the late Diana Brooker (nee Hale) and son of Stephen and Madge Brooker (nee Mutter) of Wellington.
Inspirational and loving father of Elisabeth, Richard and Sally and father-in-law to Epiha, Alex and Gurbuz.
Grandpa to Caiden, Cohen, Grayson, Harlow, Alara and Mavi and much loved uncle and great uncle to his large extended family.
Accountant for 50 years, Chorister for 70, and founder/conductor of the Linden Singers of Hawke’s Bay (formerly the Hastings Madrigal Singers) for 50 years.
The music he liked to sing will never be forgotten.
The family would like to thank everyone, both musical and medical, who supported Basil in making it to his final standing ovation.
The Funeral Service is to be held at the Waiapu Anglican Cathedral, Browning Street, Napier, on Thursday, 1 April 2021 at 3pm followed by a private cremation.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the Limit (Hawkes Bay) Trust which over the last 16 years has supported high school students in gaining their drivers licenses – Basil was a foundation trustee.
