THE STANDARD CLUB CONSTITUTION states in Article IV, Section 2 – “An Annual Meeting for the election of Officers of this club shall be held no later than the thirty-first day of December in each year as provided in the by-laws of the club.”
Nominations – Club Officers 1976/77:
Nominations will be called at a club meeting on Tuesday, 16th December, 1975, for: – President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer.
Nominations – Directors:
On Tuesday, 16th December, 1975, nominations will be called for (3) three Directors for the coming year; two to be Past Presidents and one may be an ordinary member. (In accordance with By-Law Section 2).

NOMINATION: The following Nomination has been approved by the Directors and the Nominee has agreed to his name being forwarded: – Town Clerk – Arnold E Baker. If no objections are received by the 23rd December, 1975, then the proposed member will be considered duly elected.

A REMINDER: Rotoract Xmas (Tea) Meeting – 6.30 p.m. – Hastings High School O. Boys’ Hall 18th December – $5.50 per person.

PRESIDENT’S CORNER: By Carrier Pigeon from Sydney! Having a great time over here enjoying being amidst the hurly-burly of the Election campaign. Alison, Tim and I seem to be spending money like water, but – retailers take note – we’ll be coming home to do our Christmas shopping! Jim.

MEET OUR NEW MEMBER: Neil D. Donaldson, club name Neil, joins our Club with the classification of Optometry. Neil was born in Auckland, was a student at the Kings High School in Dunedin; is a Wgtn College Old Boy and attended the Universities of both Victoria and Otago. He came to Hastings in the year 1962 and is self-employed as an Optometrist, Neil is interested in sport, plays tennis, and is another welcome addition to our golf team. He is actively involved with church young people’s work and will enjoy being a member of the Youth Committee, with his interest in young people. Neil is married, and we are sure the ladies will enjoy meeting his wife, Valda, as we welcome Neil to Rotary.

MEET OUR NEW MEMBER: J. Haldane Scougal [Scougall]– Club name Haldane – is another addition to Rotary, and comes to tour Club with the classification of Cleaning Services. He hails from Bedlington, Northumberland, where he attended school and has been in Hastings for the past twenty years, where his is self-employed in his classification. Haldane takes an active interest in drama activities, singing and acting; is an active participant in the affairs of the Baptist Church, and when he has any spare time, he likes to go swimming for relaxation. He is interested in community affairs, and will enjoy being on the Community Services Committee. Haldane is married, and we know the ladies look forward to meeting his wife, Norma, as Rotary greets Haldane today.

LADIES OF ROTARY: Meeting – morning tea at the Farmers’ Tea Rooms, Wednesday morning, 17th December, at 10 a.m.

NOMINATION FORMS FOR 1977/78 ROTARY INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT: These forms have been issued to Rotary Clubs for submission of names for consideration by the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International in 1977/78, and completed forms are to reach the Committee by 31st Dec. Efforts by Clubs to influence this decision of the Committee other than by submitting the form are dealt with in the following decision by the Board in 1962/63 – “Recognising that the selection of its nominee for the office of President of Rotary International is solely the responsibility of the Nominating Committee for President, the Board look with disfavour upon any efforts from outside the Committee to influence the decision of the Committee.”
