PRESIDENT’S CORNER:
Fellows, What a great day we have last Tuesday with the awarding of the Paul Harris Fellowship to George Pacey. If ever a fellow deserved this honour, it was George. I was thrilled and honoured to make the presentation on behalf of the parents who made it possible through their financial contributions. I was so pleased that Ngaire was able to be present and take part in the proceedings. You know fellows, Ngaire worked as George’s secretary for Student Exchange, and has probably put in just as many hours on the work on the programme as George. To you both, can I once again offer on behalf of’ the Club our congratulations on being honoured in this way and our sincere wish that you will enjoy many more happy years with the Hastings Rotary Club. My special thanks to Jim Redgrave, Brian Campbell and Jack van Bohemen for the work they did in organising “The Pacey Fund” from whence came the $1000 paid to Rotary Foundation for the Fellowship.
I feel every member of the Club would be interested to read the wording on the certificate presented to George. It reads – In appreciation of tangible and significant achievement given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations between peoples of the world GEORGE PACEY is hereby named a Paul Harris Fellow. Thank you, Bill Pascoe, for a most interesting talk which made last Tuesday, November 1st, a day many of us will remember for a time to come.   Don.

PRELIMINARY NOTICE – DANNEVIRKE GOLF FORUM: Just to let you know the 22nd Annual Golf Forum will be held again this year on Sunday, 20th November next, and to give you time to shake the moths out of those plus-fours. Names will be taken next Tuesday to make up the Golf Team – more news later.

REGISTRATION FORMS – COMBINED DISTRICT CONFERENCE ROTORUA – MARCH 1977. Last Tues. our Conference Liaison Officer, Bob Fish, distributed Registration Forms and advises he has more forms available for our members. It is stressed that early registration is essential for the desired accommodation, particularly if our members wish to stay as a club group – block booking is necessary, and confirmation of attendance is requested with the early return of Registration Forms. Don’t forget also about the camping as a Caravan Club. We would mention that interest throughout the District is high and it is possible a limit may have to be set on numbers attending. We’ll tell you more about the Conference next week – in greater detail – in the meantime take home a Registration Form – and register now.

PERSONALITIES OF THE WEEK:
Birthdays:
Nov. 12, David Wright.
Wedding Anniversaries: Nov. 12, Margaret and Gordon Morley.
Nov. 13, Brenda and David Fine.
I wonder if our Banker’s having the celebrations in the bank vault – it looks a good combination.

Registered at the Post Office Headquarters. Wellington, New Zealand as a Magazine.
