PRESIDENT’S CORNER:
Happy New Year, fellows. I hope you all had enjoyable holidays and that you have now recovered from the “back to work blues”. As we enter the second half of this Rotary year, I look forward, with keen anticipation, to a further busy and interesting six months of sharing Rotary with you.
Don.

MEET OUR NEW MEMBER:   We have given ourselves a Xmas present with the induction into our Club of John Kuzmich – club name Joh – with the classification of Police C.I.B. John comes from our satellite city of Napier and went to school at Waipawa. He is engaged in criminal investigation under his classification, went to New Guinea under the Colombo Plan in the year 1974 as a lecturer of criminal law and techniques of crime investigation and returned to N.Z. to take up his duties with the Hastings C.I.B. John is no newcomer to service, he is a past member of the Napier Rotary Club and when he went to New Guinea he joined the Boroko Rotary Club at Port Moresby. John has served on the Onekawa School Committee, Napier, the Executive of the N.Z. Police association, Director of the N.Z. Police Staff Welfare Fund, and for relaxation, enjoys shooting, hunting and fishing. He is married with two children, and we are sure the Ladies will be looking forward to meeting his wife, Joan.
We welcome John Kuzmich, to Hastings Rotary.

THE COUNT-DOWN FOR THE CONFERENCE HAS STARTED:   Those lucky people attending the Combined District Conference 3-4-5 March this year, will appreciate that Rotorua caters for all tastes and moods. Sports facilities of all kinds – thirteen lakes for boating, swimming and picnic activity scenic areas with native bush – N.Z.’s first Recreational Forest Park – thermal activity – trout springs – Kiwi and deer parks – a semi-active volcano to climb – scenic air flights – swimming pools – thermal plunge pools – stock cars, horse and greyhound racing – fishing – visits to centres such as Forest Research Institute etc. etc. It looks like three happy days at the Combined District Conference.
