THOUGHT – If you want something done, give it to a busy man…and he’ll have his secretary do it.

PRESIDENT GARY’S CORNER
Give a thought to Rotaract who are short on numbers. Surely you know someone that could be interested in joining.
Please keep up your attendance at committee meetings. Other clubs that meet at night have almost 100% at their meetings. Why shouldn’t we do the same? It is part of your commitment to Rotary.
I thought the District Governor was a breath of fresh air and I hope you did too. He has helped to enforce this year’s motto of “Enjoy Rotary”. So far I have enjoyed it. I trust it is mutual.

KARAMU ROTARY CLUB, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE HASTINGS POLICE are organising a Charity Ball to be held at the Tomoana Showgrounds, Hastings on Saturday 28 October. This will be the social event of the year, and a top evening of good music, dancing, fellowship and fun is guaranteed to those attending. Drinks, refreshments, and supper are included in the tickets, together with a return airfare for two to Sydney “lucky ticket” draw. Tickets are $40 each (single) and net proceeds will be donated to Child Cancer Research, a very worthy charity appeal.
Karamu would like to know how many of us would be interested in attending. Talk it over with your lady. Make up a party and have a ball. President Gary will be asking for numbers next Tuesday.

MEMBERSHIP PROPOSAL – Jeromy Greer has been nominated to fill the vacant classification of “Car Retailing”. If no objections are received by 19 October, he will be invited to join the club.

WHAT IS A PROBUS CLUB?
The PROBUS CLUBS were started by Rotary Clubs for members, who for one reason or another, could not commit themselves to regular meetings or involvement with their chosen clubs. There is no age limit. They are purely social and for fellowship. Meet once a month. There are mixed and women’s clubs, in fact, there are, in District 993, as many members (2400) as current Rotarians.

MAKE UP – You will be interested to know that Bruce Whyte is Making up at the Nelson Club.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE has been granted to John Cornelius for overseas travel.
