PRESIDENT MERV’S COMMENTS
There are many Rotarians in our club who have outstanding attendance records and I am sure that any of these Rotarians will agree that attendance is only part of the Rotary Movement. It is the first step to service.
Good attendance means that you keep up to date with what is going on in the club; you share in the socialising with other fellows; you particpate [participate] in club activities and you learn more about the Rotary movement.
With the ever increasing demands on our time in our businesses and employments, we have to choose our activities carefully. When we accept membership into a Rotary Club we accept that it will demand a little – or a lot of our time depending on our commitment. Do you attend committee meetings?
Do you volunteer when help is required?
Do you get involved in club projects?
In short do you do more than just show up?
The above sentiments were voiced by Rotary International President Bob Barth, in a recent Rotary magazine and I felt that they were important enough to repeat.

ROTARY CLUB OF WANAKA.
As part of their “Warbirds over Wanaka Air Show” at Easter they are producing two feature Telecom phonecards at $7.50 each. If you are a collector and want details see Sec. Derek.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE – The following have been requested and approved.
Terry Coxon – Retrospectively for January/February
Alan Scott – 8 March to 11 April and 26 April to 6 July
Alasdair Shaw – 22 February to 3 May
Merv Lewis -16 April to 2 May
Frank Crist – 2 June to 2 August

J.R. McKENZIE YOUTH EDUCATION TRUST FUND.
The objects of the fund are to assist in the betterment, education, advancement and physical welfare of young people in the Community, particularly where bereavement, sickness, physical handicap, or family disturbance leave children in need of assistance, if they are to continue with their studies. Grants are usually made towards the cost of school clothes, materials, or fees to assist the student to remain at school. The fund is administered entirely by the Rotary Clubs of Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, and Clubs are urged to seek out worthy cases which meet the criteria for financial assistance.
Applications giving full details may be made at any time to the Chairman of the District Committee. There is no deadline date.

An Annual Report should report, compare, interpret, communicate, look ahead and again support. Ron Giorgi
