Mr. Poppelwell then read out a summary of the Budget that he prepared. Explaining that the income for the first quarter should be $1,151.00, of which $489.00 was still in arrears. So far for the first quarter 25 members have paid, 22 members are still to pay. After considerable discussion it was moved Page, seconded Reid, that all accounts Outstanding for first Quarter be paid in full. Motion carried.

It was then suggested that a list of unpaid levies be prepared, and that the in-coming committee make approaches to these retailers explaining the present position. It was also felt that the present system of paying levies per quarter was not satisfactory. It was then moved Mr. Page, seconded Mr. Reid, that in future, accounts be sent out prior to all promotions covering the cost of the forthcoming promotion, provided that retailers are advised well in advance. The motion was carried.

It was also moved Mr. T. Halpin, seconded Mr. T Sweeny [Sweeney], to access all back debt that Centrepoint owes and levy retailers proportionally. The motion was carried.

New Promotions:

Again there was quite considerable discussion on new promotions that could be held during the remainder of the year. It was felt that a market day in October was imperative, and that a Christmas Promotion should be held also.

President:   Mr. Mel Page of McKenzies
Secretary:   Mrs. Campbell of McKenzies

Mr. B. O’Connor

It was moved by Mr. T. Sweeny, seconded by Mr. M. Gardiner, that no major expenses on major items over $100.00 be spent by committee before general discussions have taken place with all retailers. The motion was carried. There was also considerable discussion on the Centrepoint Archway. It was felt that the Arch was the most important thing that Centrepoint has, and that the in-coming committee look into the proposed strengthening and beautification. There was also a recommendation to committee to look at the drawing-up of a balance sheet to be presented at the next Annual General Meeting.

The Meeting closed at 7.40.
