CLARK, Alfred Eric Edward
Retired High School Principal.
Born Hastings 6 July 1919. Married 1941 Kathleen Gertrude Roberts (d); three children – Marvyn Kathleen, Colleen Fay, Alison Judith; remarried Erica Lorraine Grace 1983.
Educated Hastings High School; Victoria University of Wellington; Auckland University; Auckland Teachers’ College. MA, Dip Tchg.
Teacher 1940-60 including post at Horace Mann School New York 1960-84 and deputy chairman Seventh Local Government Commission 1985-90. Member Auckland Teachers’ Colleges Council 1970-84, chairman Auckland Secondary Teachers’ College 1970-84, past president and secretary Auckland Post Primary Principals’ Association.
Awarded OBE, Woolf Fisher Fellowship 1972.  Justice of the Peace.
Represented Auckland, Manawatu, King Country and North Auckland at rugby; Hawke’s Bay, King Country and North Auckland at cricket.
Involved in Auckland Institute and Museum.
Leisure activities include golf and squash.
