Born Hastings, 10 May 1939, son of Norman Gregory Collinge and Hilary Winifred (née Fendall); married (1) Ngaire Jean Main, daughter of Hedley and Jean Main, 1965 (diss 1983); (2) Bron Christine Dover, daughter of Leslie and Elsie Dover, 1984; three daughters.
Education: Paeroa District High School; Hastings Boys High School; Auckland University, LLB 1962; Oxford University, BLitt 1965.
Barrister and Solicitor, High Court of New Zealand; Senior Lecturer in Law, Melbourne University, 1967-1970; legal practice in Melbourne, Wellington and Auckland, 1969-1989; Chairman, Auckland Electric Power Board, 1980-1989; Chairman, Policy and Finance Committee, ARA, 1983-1986; Chairman, Commerce Commission, 1984-1989; President, National Party, 1989 -; Director: United Distillers (NZ) Limited 1985-1989 (Chairman 1991), Nelson Fisheries 1974-1989 (Chairman), NZ Pelagic Fisheries 1975-1981; Board Member, Electrical Dev Association of NZ Incorporated; Council Member, Electrical Supply Association of NZ Incorporated; Chairman, ALAC, 1991 -.
