Educated Paeroa District High School; Hastings Boys’ High School; Auckland University 1957-62 – LLB 1962; Oxford University 1963-65 – BLitt 1965. Awarded Shell Scholarship 1963, Senior Scholarship in Law 1962.
Barrister and solicitor, sometime lecturer University of Melbourne 1967-70, University of Leeds 1966.
