Born Lincoln, England, 27 March 1937; arrived in NZ, 1940, son of Richard Ambrey Court and Nancy (née Howell); married Sandra Thelma Gillett, daughter of Laurie and Thelma Gillett, 1966; four sons.
Education: Rissington Primary, Hawke’s Bay, St Georges School, Wanganui; Napier Boys’ High School; Victoria University, Bachelor of Science 1958; Auckland University, Bachelor of Arts 1961, Master of Arts 1964; University of New South Wales, PhD 1969; Hallsworth Fellow, University of Manchester, 1981.
Meteorologist, NZ Government, 1958-1959; Research Economist, Lincoln University, 1962-1966; Lecturer in Economics, University of New South Wales, 1969-1979; Senior Lecturer, Victoria University, 1970; Senior Lecturer, University of Essex, 1971-1972; Auckland University: Associate Professor 1973-1976, Professor 1977 -; Visiting Professor, Simon Fraser University, Canada, 1981.  Member, Orewa College Board of Governors, 1984-1986.
Publications: Topics in Allied Economics, (co-author) 1979; various scholarly articles.
Sports: NZ University Table Tennis Team, 1961-1964, Captain 1963-1964.
Recreations: sea fishing, bushwalking, birdwatching, tennis, reading, gardening, table tennis.
