Primate and Archbishop of New Zealand, Bishop of Wellington 1986-; formerly teacher, laboratory assistant, ordained deacon 1960, priest 1961, Vicar of Dannevirke 1967-73, Cathedral Parish of St John the Evangelist, Napier, Dean of Waiapu 1973-80, Bishop of Waikato 1980-86; member Anglican Consultative Council 1986-89.
Publications include contributions to An Encyclopaedia of NZ (1966), booklet Guidelines for Church Membership, various articles on Christian initiation.
Leisure activities include swimming (former Taranaki junior swimming champion), tennis, watercolour painting, woodcarving, turning.
