Born Hastings, 12 July 1951, son of Stuart Devenie and Laura Margaret (née Thompson); married Gillian Ray Skyrme, daughter of Ray and Harold Skyrme, 1973; one daughter.
Education: Hastings Central Primary School; Hastings Intermediate; Hastings Boys High School; Victoria University, Canterbury University.
Trainee Director, NZ Broadcasting Corporation Radio Drama, 1972; Radio Drama Producer, NZBC 1973-1976; Director TV One, 1976; freelance actor, director, teacher in theatre, radio and TV, 1977 -; Associate Director, Court Theatre, Christchurch, 1980-1983; Artistic Director, Centrepoint Theatre, Palmerston North, 1984; Performance Tutor, Northland Polytechnic, 1991 -; Narrator, award-winning natural history TV programmes.  Foundation Member, Circa Theatre Cl, Wellington.
Acting Roles include: Henry Carr, Travesties, Downstage, 1977; Foreskin, Foreskin’s Lament, Court, 1981; The Miser, Court, 1982; Arnold, Torch Song Trilogy, 1987; Valmont, Les Liaisons Dangereux, Fortune, 1988; Gillimard, Madame Butterfly; Productions include: Amadeus, Court, 1982; The Dresser, Court, 1983; Domestic Tragedy: A Farce, Centrepoint, 1984; Scoring, Centrepoint, 1984, China Wars, The Company, 1988.
