DRIVER, Donald Sinclair
Artist and Sculptor.
Born Hastings 21 March 1930. Married 1958 Joyce Dodd; one child – Justine Rachel (b […]).
Educated Napier Boys’ High School; New Plymouth Boys’ High School; New Plymouth Polytechnic 1947-59 – casual classes in drawing, painting, welding, woodwork and pottery.
Formerly dental technician, shop assistant and décor consultant, now with New Plymouth District Council Govett Brewster Art Gallery.
Numerous one-man exhibitions from 1963 in paintings, sculptures, reliefs and wall hangings in NZ and Sydney; participated in group exhibitions from 1964 in all NZ centres.
Installations in Wellington, Adelaide, New Plymouth and Wanganui; commissioned work include murals at New Plymouth airport and McKechnies Administration Block, banners and prints; represented in many NZ museums and galleries.
Art awards include Benson and Hedges 1972, Hansells 1974, BP 1987.
Address 148 Heta Road, New Plymouth.
