Dear President Jim,

All of us at Eastern Hutt send greetings and congratulate your Club on Dick Watson’s success in winning a place in the first New Zealand Rotary Golf Team, which will compete for the Trans Tasman Trophy in Australia next year. In addition to Dick we were delighted to have the company of Frank Crist over the week end of the finals.

In order to preserve their amateur status, it will be necessary for the team members to contribute approximately $110 each towards their air fare to Australia. As they would like to travel and play looking as a team, the players have also committed themselves to supplying at their own expense all the uniform clothing except the blazers donated by Lane Walker Rudkin Ltd.

We at Eastern Hutt plan to raise $50-$100 to assist in outfitting the team and will be forwarding this money to the captain, Tom Stout of the Hornby Club in Christchurch, who has accepted  responsibility for the uniforms. May we suggest that your Club make a similar gesture of support for the first New Zealand Rotary Golf Team to compete against Australia.
