ER Gordon
… Gordon 9th Lancers.
William C Gordon joined the 9th Lancers as a Cadet on 13th February 1852. Still in the rank of Cadet he resigned on 4th Oct. 1954. I have found no other reference to him in the Regimental History.
Edward Robertson Gordon joined the 9th Lancers on the 18th September 1895, being transferred from the 7th Dragoon guards in the rank of Captain.
He retired a Major on 3rd December 1906.
Mentioned in dispatches September 1901.
There also appears in the Regimental History the name of Brig. Genl. J.R.P. Gordon – though not a 9th Lancer.
He commanded the 3rd Cavalry Brigade which was formed in February 1900 & consisted of:-
9th Lancers
16th Lancers
“O” & “R” Batteries R.H.A.
