GLENROSS STATION
RD 9, HASTINGS, NEW ZEALAND

The story of your Glenross Jersey

Glenross is an historic sheep station situated in the renowned farming district of Glenross, 50km west of Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, in the North Island of New Zealand.

In 1879, John Gibson Kinross, a Scotsman, built the homestead and named it Glenross after his family motto “Rosam Ne Rode” which means “Do not gnaw the rose.” When J.G. Kinross died in 1887, the homestead block was 7,500 acres. After World War ll, Glenross was sold to the Government for soldier settlement and divided up into smaller blocks.

We live on the homestead block, which runs from 1,200 feet to 2,500 feet above sea level and includes the original homestead and 1,100 acres. The homestead is virtually unchanged from when it was first built 112 years ago.

“From our sheeps’ backs to yours” was chosen as our logo as we have had the enjoyment of overseeing all the processes involved. From the growing and selecting of the wool to the shearing, scouring, spinning and knitting of your garment.
