HAMILTON, David Blair
Composer, Teacher.
Born Napier 21 December 1955. Educated Taupo Nui a Tia College; Auckland University – Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music 1978, Master of Music 1980.
Head of music, Epsom Girls’ Grammar School.
Winner Wellington Youth Orchestra composer competition 1978, 1981, Dunedin Sinfonia competition 1987; over 60 choral, chamber works composed, commissioned by variety NZ groups including Radio NZ, NZ Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Choral Society, performed internationally; major works include Lux Aeterna (1979), Stabat Mater (1981), And Music Shall Untune the Sky (1987), A Robin Hyde Cycle (1988).
Woolf Fisher Trust Award 1989.
Leisure activities include music, choral singing.
