COPY OF OBITUARY PARAGRAPH
APPEARING IN THE ANNUAL REPORT
of the
ACETONE ILLUMINATING & WELDING CO. LTD.
DATED NAPIER, 9th JUNE, 1939.
We have to record a severe loss to the Company in the death during the year of our Chairman of Directors, the Hon. H.A. Russell, M.L.C. The late Mr. Russell had been a shareholder since 1920 and a Director since 1922. On the retirement of the late Mr. Wm. Nelson in 1930, Mr. Russell was appointed Chairman of Directors and the Company owes him a debt of gratitude for continuing the progressive policy that had been followed by the previous Chairman since the first days of the Company. The unfortunate death of Mr. Russell has not only robbed the Company of a most excellent administrator, but has been a loss to the whole of New Zealand, and in particular, to Hawke’s Bay.
