Born Napier, 21 July 1929, son of Ben Howell and Lawrie (née Vine); married Rosalie Anne Smithson, daughter of Alan and Vivienne Smithson, 1958; two sons one daughter.
Education: Mahora Primary; Hastings Boys’ High School; FNZSA.
Partner: Bayliss & Howell 1951-1956, Bayliss Howell & Woodham 1956-1972, Barr Burgess & Stewart (now Coopers & Lybrand) 1972-1990. Member: Havelock North Rotary 1969-1979, Devonport Rotary 1989.
Recreations: golf, bridge, fishing.
