Educated Waipukurau District High School; Victoria University College, Wellington 1946-68; Wellington Teachers’ College – Diploma of Teaching 1948; Glasgow School of Art 1948-52 – Diploma of Art 1952; London University.
Head of Art Department of Palmerston North Teachers’ College 1956-66, Professor in School of Architecture, California Polytechnic State University 1967-76, Professor and head of department of Art 1976-81, associate dean School of Arts and Humanities 1981-85, Professor Emeritus 1986.
Past member QEII Arts Council and Palmerston North City Art Gallery.
Exhibited in England, USA and NZ. Sculpture in public places and schools in NZ and California, large number of commissioned works include portrait Sir Walter Nash, Admiral E. Byrd and Sir Harry Jephcott.
Leisure activities include fly fishing and bowls.
