Born Hastings, 21 February 1929, son of James Frederick Jones and Hinemanu (née Johnson); married Jocelyn Mae Gordon, daughter of John Gordon, 1960; one son two daughters.
Education: Mahora Primary School, Hastings; Hastings High School; Victoria University; ACA.
Employed Rainbow & Hobbs, Accountants, Hastings, 3 years; Company Secretary, then joint Managing Director, family firm Bon Marche, Hastings and Napier, until 1987 (retired); Chairman Tourist Kelt Motors Limited 6 years; Current Director, Heretaunga Permanent Building Society, Hastings.  President, Hastings Rotary Club, 1974-1975; St John Ambulance: Chairman 1966-1969, President 1971-1974, Hastings Area; Chairman 1971-1972, President 1973-1974, Hawke’s Bay-East Coast District; Assistant Director of Ceremonies 1978-1987, Director of Ceremonies 1988-1990, Order of St John, NZ.
Sports: Table Tennis: NZ University Champion 1952, HB Champion 1953, 1954.
Recreations: golf, tennis, trout fishing.
