Educated Dannevirke High School; Palmerston North Teachers’ College 1961-62 – Teaching Certificate; Massey University 1962-72 – Master of Arts 1972, Diploma of Education 1973.
Senior lecturer in Sociology, Canterbury University, academic director and co-owner Southern Cross Language Institute; formerly visiting professor of International Relations, Tokyo University.
President Sociological Association of Aotearoa (NZ), president NZ Gerontological Association, chairperson National Council on AIDS, past deputy chairperson NZ Planning Council.
Awarded 1990 Commemorative Medal.
