GEORGE LOWE – EVEREST EXPEDITION

Sir,

My Council, at its recent meeting, discussed the question of recognising the conquest of Everest by making a suitable presentation to Mr. Lowe, who played such a prominent part in the successful ascent and is returning to New Zealand, I understand, within a few days.

The County district is proud to honour him and I am sending this note to a number of our residents asking for contributions towards the cost of a lasting token of Hawke’s Bay County’s recognition of his share in the venture and admiration for the achievement.

If you should like to support this proposal would you kindly forward your donation, by return mail if possible, to the

County Clerk,
P. O. Box 172,
NAPIER.

Note :- The objective is for the presentation to be representative, rather than a smaller number of larger donations.

Yours faithfully
R Harding
CHAIRMAN, H.B. COUNTY COUNCIL
