Letter from Alice Deans

Mr Editor,
Dear Sir

Two of the photos published in your fine Centenary issue were of particular interest because they were taken by my father Mr A.A. George so many years ago.

We lived near where Mr Upton has his Pharmacy. The house was two storied & the photo was taken from a upstairs window.

The other was Newbigins Brewery. The gentleman with the umbrella was Mr James McKittrick who lived nearby & worked in the Post Office. He married my eldest sister and their son Terry had a car business in St Aubyn St.

The old gentleman with the bicycle was Mr Beharrell who travelled for Newbigins and his sister had a Girls Private School near where the 7th Day Adventist Church now is.

The photos were taken on glass plates and are still in the possession of the family.

Yours
Alice M Deans
